Workforce Solutions Borderplex Announces Public Relations Coordinator

Iris Lopez

El Paso, Texas (April 27, 2022) - Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB), the leading workforce development organization empowering the region with innovative programs, is pleased to announce the expansion of their Communications team with the addition of Iris Lopez as their Public Relations Coordinator.

“Workforce Solutions Borderplex is dedicated to motivating the workforce to reach its peak potential with the opportunities and resources we provide,” said Bianca Cervantes, WSB Communications Director. “Iris’ infectious personality, wit, and community influence are on-brand with our mission and vision, and I look forward to the continued impact the entire WSB Hype Team will have on the Borderplex and economy.”

Iris will support the ‘Hype Team,’ within the Communications department, which is currently comprised of former television personalities Kandolite Carson and Chuck DeBroder. She brings more than a decade of combined experience in broadcast news, radio, and non-profit management.

“I’m thrilled to be able to contribute my passion for the community through the WSB platform and join forces in community empowerment,” Lopez said. “It’s a privilege to be a part of such a prestigious and like-minded organization, and I look forward to making a positive difference as a member of the Hype Team.”

Prior to joining the WSB Hype Team, Iris’ professional experience included a stint in local radio, where she was known as ‘Lily Lopez’ at 104.3 HitFM. She made her way into broadcast news at KVIA-TV where she worked as a reporter and weekend weather anchor. During her tenure at KVIA-TV, she created the on-air franchise, ‘KVIA Sunday Funday Moments’ that still airs weekly. She also works as an on-air host at 93.1 KISS-FM.

Currently, Iris serves as the Executive Director of Mija, Yes You Can, of which she founded with a mission to provide resources and education for women and girls to help them achieve their life dreams. She also serves as a board member for The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI El Paso.)
She was recently awarded the community spirit award for El Paso Community College’s 13th Annual Literary Fiesta and was named one of EPCC’s Hispanic Heritage Mentors by El Paso Community College’s Diversity and Inclusion program for her work within the community. Iris’ passion to inspire and motivate others is due in large part to her 11-year-old son, Jacob. For Iris, being a mom is one of the greatest accomplishments she has achieved and it is what continues to motivate her to inspire our youth.
